Mandatory UKCA labeling from January 1, 2023<\/p>\n

According to a representative from the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, from January 1, 2023, the UKCA label will be mandatory in the UK for goods entering the market for the first time, replacing previously existing labels.<\/p>\n

The UKCA was introduced in 2021; however, after December 31, 2022, all manufactured goods must use this label for export to the UK, except for certain products as stipulated by law. The UKCA label has specific requirements regarding design and appearance, which can be assessed by the business itself or by a third party, depending on the specific product requirements.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, to support and reduce costs for businesses during the relabeling process, the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy continues to accept imported parts into the UK before December 31, 2022, for maintenance purposes without requiring retesting or relabeling.<\/p>\n

The UKCA labeling process involves four key stakeholders: manufacturers, product marketers, importers, and distributors. There are no costs from the UK government related to UKCA labeling if businesses self-declare the label.<\/p>\n

There is an urgent need to guide businesses on applying the UKCA label.<\/p>\n

According to Mr. Ta Hoang Linh, Director of the European-American Market Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the UKCA label has specific regulations regarding design and appearance, and can be self-assessed by businesses or by a third party, depending on the requirements of the specific product. Therefore, guiding Vietnamese businesses on the UKCA for industrial goods exported to the UK is practical and needs to be implemented immediately.<\/p>\n
