EU AMENDS REGULATIONS ON LIMITS OF VALUE IN CERTAIN FOODS<\/h2>\n

On 1 August 2022, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2022\/1346 and 2022\/1343 amending Annexes II and III of Regulation (EC) 396\/2005 relating to maximum residue levels for 1,4-dimethylnaphthalene, 8-hydroxyquinoline, pinoxaden and valifenalate on and in certain products; and maximum residue levels of acequinocyl, chlorantraniliprole and emamectin on and in certain products.<\/p>\n

The regulations apply to products such as fresh and frozen fruits, nuts, fresh and frozen vegetables, oils and oilseeds, cereals, tea, coffee, herbs, and products of animal origin.<\/p>\n

Regulation 396\/2005 will continue to apply to products manufactured in the European Union or imported into the Union before February 22, 2023.<\/p>\n

On August 4, 2022, the European Commission issued Regulations (EU) 2022\/1364 and 2022\/1370 amending EC Regulation 1881\/2006 on the maximum values \u200b\u200bof hydrocyanic acid and Ochratoxin A in certain products.<\/p>\n

The regulations apply to many products such as flax seeds, almonds, apricot kernels, cassava (fresh, peeled), tapioca starch, cereals, dried fruits, roasted coffee, instant coffee, spices, dried herbs, etc.<\/p>\n

Foods that were legally marketed before January 1, 2023, may still be sold until their expiration date.<\/p>\n

The regulations are effective from January 1, 2023. Details can be found here:<\/p>\n
