INDIA IMPOSES NEW TAXES AND BANS EXPORTS OF CERTAIN TYPES OF RICE FROM SEPTEMBER 9, 2022<\/p>\n

On September 8, 2022, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade of India issued Notice No. 31\/2015-2020, deciding to ban the export of broken rice (HS code 1006 40 00), effective from September 9, 2022.<\/p>\n

Some shipments may continue to be exported until September 15 if they meet one of the following conditions:<\/p>\n

(i) Goods began being loaded onto ships before this notice;<\/p>\n

(ii) Bills of lading have been issued and ships have arrived and anchored at Indian ports, and the ship’s loading order has been allocated;<\/p>\n

(iii) The shipment was transferred to Customs before notification and was registered by Customs in the system.<\/p>\n

In addition, on September 8, 2022, the Indian Ministry of Finance also issued Notice No. 49\/2022-Customs, effective from September 9, 2022, regarding the imposition of a 20% export duty on certain types of paddy rice such as:<\/p>\n

(i) Paddy rice (HS 100610)<\/p>\n

(ii) Brown rice (HS 10620)<\/p>\n

(iii) Other types of rice except parboiled rice and Basmati rice (HS 10063090)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
